So, how do you save the world, one community at a time? You rethink everything and you start today.
Green Earth Village is a new way to think about urban development. But who’s behind this leading-edge, sustainable, innovative effort? The partners involved are a diverse group, a team that is driven by best practices, constant improvement and a belief that Ontario can lead the way. The primary developers, Royal Park and Signature Communities, have extensive experience in planning, designing and building desirable communities, with a diversified portfolio of building types, in Ontario as well as across North America.
The other partners bring local and international sustainability and technology expertise to the table. Panasonic, Bosch, Greyter, Smartflower, 4e2 Evolved Energy and Hydro One, are just some of the trusted team members that will consult on everything from concept design, to energy creation and use, to water and waste-water systems and more.
So what is Green Earth Village? It will be a compact, complete and healthy community. It will be a showcase of current and future sustainable technologies, applied to a mixed complex of building types.
This is a totally new way to look at development and the eco-system we live in. Consisting of a diverse mix of residential unit types, parks and open spaces, live/work opportunities, mixed-use areas, services and amenities, active transportation systems, green infrastructure and sustainable building practices within the entire community.
There’s a new revolution coming. And it will redefine how we build and live. Green Earth Village represents the beginning of this revolution. This “village” will create its own energy, encourage local living, and improve the environment & quality of life at the same time. Most people should be able to walk or bike to work, school and to basic community needs. Most people should be able to grow plants and vegetables. We should all be able to live in a near zero village without sacrificing comforts of modern living. Most of us want this. Now we must make it a reality.
When will Green Earth Village be a reality? Well, the future should be now. We risk being passed by other jurisdiction or even worse, being left behind tomorrow if we don’t start thinking differently, today. Now is the time to eliminate red tape and incentivize this kind of progress.
We need to start building communities developed for the planet’s future now, or risk our own future. So, it begs the question, why haven’t we built this much sooner? And why aren’t we doing it already? Sustainable community practices and technology that will be used in the future, can be utilized now within GEV. We can set new standards for how we develop sustainable living from the infrastructure up, right here, right now. Green Earth Village provides an opportunity to embrace sustainable energy and water/wastewater systems that can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as have lower operating costs than conventional systems. This is starting to happen around the world and it’s time for us to help lead the way in North America. The time for Green Earth Village is now.
